| Why the rush to sewer the island? The City has never explored alternatives to old-style gravity sewers. A CARES position paper that suggests why that may be. |

| Wilma was a warning! Fortunately, Marco Island escaped Wilma's fury but it would be foolhardy to ignore the warning that Wilma gave us. Next time, we may not be so lucky! |
Are our waters polluted? How do we maintain our water quality? Marco waters are tested continuously and the data are analyzed by Rookery Bay scientists. Are we in danger now? "Citizens Advocating Responsible Environmental Solutions"
The Informational Web Site For Every Marco Island Citizen Who Wishes Preserve Our Environment In A Responsible Manner
We advocate environmentally-sound alternatives to the expensive and potentially dangerous gravity-sewer system proposed for our island. Our alternatives are approved by the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Florida Department of Health. They are less expensive and less disruptive to our island life, maintain our property values and are equally (and, in many respects, more) friendly to the environment.
We advocate strict EPA oversight of the cleanup of asbestos that has been spread around our island through lax oversight by cognizant authorities.
We advocate strict enforcement of city contracts that hold contractors responsible for damages they cause and any legal costs pursuant thereto. Taxpayers should never be expected to pay to remediate problems caused by profit-seeking contractors.
We advocate open honest government - of, by and for the people - that is conducted with respect for each person, eschews "special interests" and "closed-door" meetings, provides truthful accurate information to the people, does not seek to obfuscate, and encourages open dialog and mutual respect among citizens and between each citizen and his/her government.
Tell us what you think! Send inquiries and comments to: CARES@marcocares.com
On this site, you will find links to other "clean water" sites, information on asbestos, as well as position papers and technical data that we have developed. Everything is based upon sound science and careful research.
